Students Coaching Students
Students Coaching Students
Students Coaching Students is a train-the-trainer course that builds on prior coaching knowledge and experience to support educators to develop peer coaching between their students to enhance their success and wellbeing.
Coaching is a valuable social skill that can enhance goal attainment and emotional regulation. Students Coaching Students offers a way to teach coaching skills to students, who are then able to support their peers to set goals and grow in a collaborative way.
This train-the-trainer course is designed to support educators who have already undertaken GCI coaching training to apply their knowledge and expertise to the development and implementation of student peer coaching in their school.
Based on the research of Prof. Christian van Nieuwerburgh and Chloe Tong (2013), when implemented thoughtfully, student peer coaching initiatives bring a range of benefits such as better study skills, increased emotional intelligence and improved communication skills, to both the students learning to be coaches and those students who are being coached.
BENEFITS:
Introduce coaching skills to students in a supportive, structured and sustainable way
Train students to build agency
Enhance learning and wellbeing outcomes for students
Improve communication and social skills
Enhance student perspective taking and emotional intelligence
